ONE of the best-known duos on the British Folk music scene will perform in Otley next week.

Nancy Kerr and James Fagan will take the stage at Otley Courthouse at 8pm on Friday, June 23.

The pair, a perennial favourite at festivals, are renowned for their outstanding musicianship, original compositions and on-stage chemistry.

Nancy, who plays fiddle and sings, shot to international prominence on the folk circuit in the 1990s after performing with Eliza Carthy.

She is a member of both Simpson Cutting Kerr, with Martin Simpson and Andy Cutting), and the multi award-winning The Full English and in 2015 was named BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year.

Australian-born James, meanwhile, specialises in bouzouki, mandolin and guitar and is a member of both Melrose Quartet and The James Brothers.

In constant demand as a session player, he has appeared on albums by Cara Dillon, Martin Simpson, Brian Finnegan, Eliza Carthy and Spiers & Boden.

He was also part of Bellowhead for their Hedonism tour in 2010.

Since starting a family the Sheffield based couple have reduced their time on the road, so their shows together are now sought-after events.

Tickets for the Otley show cost £13 and can be booked at the Courthouse, by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, or by calling (01943) 467466.
