LEEDS Flamenco Festival 2017 takes place later this month.

The Leeds Flamenco Festival is an annual event organised by Arts@Trinity and Instituto Cervantes taking place at Holy Trinity Church Leeds (LS1 6HW). For the past four years, the Leeds Flamenco Festival has brought the world’s best flamenco artists to the city and this year is no exception.

This year’s concert program will feature a headline performance by the internationally acclaimed flamenco guitarists Juan Martín and his dance trio on Friday, May 26.

In addition to Friday evening’s performance, Juan Martín and the other members of his trio will be teaching a workshop from 10am to 11.30am on Saturday, May 27. This workshop will take the form of a guest talk from Juan and will include live demonstrations from him and his trio. The workshop will specifically explore how all three elements of flamenco (guitar, dance and singing) are brought together and is suitable for anyone interested in flamenco.

This workshop in non-participant based, i.e. ticket holders attending will be there as observers only. As such, there is no need to bring guitars or dance/ percussion equipment.

Day two of the festival on May 27 will also feature: flamenco dance and guitar performances from the students at Instituto Cervantes, dance performances from Yorkshire based community dance ensembles, including: Horsforth Flamenco Dance and Hebden Bridge Flamenco, a concert with the West Yorkshire Classical Guitar Society (W.Y.C.G.S.), and a duet flamenco performance featuring flamenco guitarist Samuel Moore and percussionist Dr Tenley Martin.

At the time of going to press there are still standard and economy tickets left but they are starting to sell fast. As such, booking as soon as possible is recommended to avoid disappointment.
