PAUL WELLER will perform at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on February 23 next year as part of a major UK tour.

The tour will come on the back of A Kind Revolution, his 13th Solo studio album which is due to be released on May 12 this year.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Weller’s first album, In The City, which he released with The Jam in May 1977.

He began work on the latest album immediately after finishing 2015’s Saturns Pattern, first tickling out the funky strut of the song New York and the slow-mo gospel of The Cranes Are Back.

Musicians on the album feature most of Weller’s touring-band faithful, with Andy Crofts and Ben Gordelier being the top mainstays. and Steve Cradock and Steve Pilgrim also feature on several tracks.

A Kind Revolution is said to feature all of Weller’s influences, from rock, R&B and soul to jazz, funk and folk.
