THE rousing Floral Dance rang out at Christchurch, The Grove, Ilkley on Saturday, February 11 as final piece in a thrilling programme by the world-renowned champion Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band conducted by Dr David Thornton.
Their whole programme enthralled the capacity audience, ranging from Carmen Fantasy through a swing along set, to an evocative Vita Destructa with touches of Abide with Me. The contributions of some spectacular young soloists were particularly appreciated.
The previous Saturday evening musicians also featured at Christchurch with a bagpiper and home-grown ceilidh band in a celebration of Burns Night. Plenty of tartan, a haggis supper, some nifty footwork on the dance floor and traditional speeches set the seal on a fun occasion.
The sequence of events at Christchurch concludes shortly with a sell-out evening to hear Yorkshire shepherdess, Amanda Owens.
