A PUPPET theatre show will round off a series of half-term attractions at Otley Courthouse.

The arts venue has put together a varied programme of child-friendly attractions for the February school break, spread over three days.

First up, on Tuesday, February 14 will be a 2pm screening of The Cat in the Hat, the live action film adaptation of the classic Dr Seuss tale, starring Mike Myers.

The movie shows what happens when the trouble-making cat of the title shows up at the home of two bored young children, Sally Walden and her brother, Conrad.

Afterwards, running from 3.45pm to 4.45pm, there will be a workshop where children can make their own De Seuss inspired crafts.

Tickets cost £4 for the film or £5 for the film and workshop, which is suitable for those aged six and over.

Professional storyteller Vicki Orton, meanwhile, will run a tie-dying and storytelling workshop on Wednesday, February 15.

The 90 minute event starts at 10am and will show children how to produce anything from T-shirts to bags using an array of colours and techniques.

Vicki will also narrate some exciting tales while their creations are drying.

Also aimed at those aged six and over, tickets cost £6.

Finally on Saturday, February 18 Komedia Theatre will present Pitschi, The Kitten with Dreams.

The show uses puppets, animation, live music and some gentle audience participation to tell the story of a kitten who lives high up in the Swiss Alps with her family.

Pitschi doesn’t like the rough and tumble of normal kitten play, though, and dreams of being a different kind of creature - so goes on an adventure around her farm to meet the other animals, only to get lost.

Suitable for two to seven-year-olds, the 45 minute show begins at 2pm and tickets cost £8 for adults and £6 for children.
