A ‘STELLAR’ line-up of performers will appear at Otley Courthouse this year.

The arts venue has launched its new Spring/Summer programme and it is packed with big names from the worlds of television, radio, music, academia, literature and politics.

Among those appearing between March and July will be historian David Starkey, DJ Mark Radcliffe and Squeeze songwriter (and founding member) Chris Difford.

Also performing will be UK folk legend Maddy Prior, former war correspondent and independent MP Martin Bell, jazz guitar maestro Martin Taylor and comedians Sarah Kendall and Dr Phil Hammond.

A Courthouse spokesman said: “It is a stellar line-up that promises that this season is going to be bigger than ever before.

“Not only is the venue hosting more events, it’s also boasting a more varied programme including top theatre shows, talks from famous faces and the biggest blockbusters.

“If you fancy a bit of theatre in 2017 then theatre group Two Magpies will be taking you on a trip to the mountain of Ventoux in April as they explore the legendary race between Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantani.

“There will also be a new adaptation of the Jane Austen novel Northanger Abbey, performed by only two actors.

“We are also continuing our National Theatre live programme with screenings of Amadeus, Saint Joan, starring Gemma Arterton, Hedda Gabler starring Ruth Wilson, and Twelfth Night with Tamsin Greg as Malvolia.

“And for our family audience there will be another chance in May to draw along with Nick Sharrat, the illustrator of Tracy Beaker and Hetty Feather and author of Shark in the Park. Topsy Turvy theatre, meanwhile, will return with their adaption of children’s book Christopher Nibble, and, also in April, Pigtale Productions will be bringing their one-woman show The Tap Dancing Mermaid.”

Further musical attractions lined up include a performance by folk duo Nancy Kerr and James Fagan and a show by Pink Floyd tribute specialists What the Floyd?

The full programme of events and performances can be picked up from the venue, on Courthouse Street, or viewed online at otleycourthouse.org.uk .
