THE Upstagers annual pantomime is almost upon us. This year you will see the theatre group perform Jack and the Beanstalk at the King’s Hall in Ilkley between January 27 and February 4, 2017 with ten performances in all including three matinees.

The pantomime is a traditional telling of one of the classic pantomime tales aimed squarely at the family audience. It is based on an original script adapted from the time-honoured story about Jack, who lives with his Mum and cow in a small Yorkshire dairy town. He is very poor due to the high taxes that are levied by the Squire under threat from the evil giant who lives in a castle in the clouds and who terrorises the town. Can Jack save everyone from the giant and his despicable henchmen? Can he win the heart of his true love and save the day? Why not come along to the King’s Hall and find out?

Packed full of family fun, superb songs, spectacular dance numbers and probably the worst joke in pantomime history, this is a show not to be missed.

The director of the show, Andrew Hewitt said: “We have another amazing show on the cards again this year. The team have been working tirelessly to put on a pantomime that we think is going to raise the roof of The King’s Hall, although whoever said never work with giants and cows may have had a point. "The cast, from the main principal performers right down to our younger tinies, are so looking forward to entertaining the audiences that we love to see coming through the doors. I’d urge everyone to come along to support our local performers and have a great time whilst doing so.”

Each year Upstagers choose to support a charity that is close to their hearts. This year Upstagers are raising awareness of Myleoma UK throughout the pantomime run and will be donating monies raised to the charity who do such important work.
