LOCAL audiences have a second chance to see Alexandra Burke in her acclaimed starring role in the musical Sister Act.

The X Factor winner wowed audiences at Leeds Grand last year and this time she can be seen at Bradford Alhambra.

The new production, directed and choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood, will be in Bradford from February 20 to 25.

Alexandra Burke plays Deloris Van Cartier, the nightclub singer forced to hide in a nunnery after witnessing a murder. She transforms the stuffy old convent choir into gospel superstars.

Alexandra will be joined by Joanna Francis as Michelle, Jon Robyns as Eddie, Karen Mann as Mother Superior and Rosemary Ashe as Sister Mary Lazarus.

Alexandra Burke will perform as Deloris at all evening performances, but matinee performances will feature Joanna Francis in the role.

Alexandra originally rose to fame after winning the fifth series of The X Factor, her debut number one single Hallelujah going on to sell more than one million copies in the UK, a first for a British female soloist.

Burke’s first album Overcome saw the release of her subsequent number one singles Bad Boys and Start Without You.

In 2011 she embarked on her first solo tour, and was invited by Beyoncé to support her I Am... Tour. Alexandra’s second album Heartbreak On Hold was released in June 2012.

Sister Act is based on the hit 1990s film comedy starring Whoopi Goldberg as Deloris.
