PRINCESSES rule the roost in Leeds this Christmas as the city offers three star-studded pantomimes.

Cinderella is in residence at the Carriageworks Theatre and Sleeping Beauty is wide awake for the rock ‘n’ roll panto at the City Varieties.

The new kid on the block is Snow White in a major panto production in a specially-erected big top tent.

Rags-to-riches tale Cinderella, which runs from Friday, December 2 to January 7, promises singing, dancing and falling in love at the Carriageworks.

Prince Charming is played by Britain’s Got Talent Winner, Jai McDowall, who followed an arena tour with the release of a debut album entitled Believe.

Entertainer and funnyman Jez Edwards returns to the Carriageworks after his popular stints in seven previous pantos, including last year’s Aladdin.

Meanwhile over at the City Varieties, Dame Taffeta Trott is donning her bloomers, Princess Susie has made her bed and Simon Steadfast is readying to be a hero.

They are also ready to pick up their saxophone, guitars and drums, for the historic venue’s popular rock ‘n’ roll panto, running until January 8.

Billed as a hilarious, high-speed show, Sleeping Beauty will allow the audience to sing along to The Eagles, Whitney Houston, Marvin Gaye and Cher.

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs will be in the grounds of the former Tetley Brewery site in the new White Rose Theatre.

Producers promise a “spectacle of pure enchantment” starring Brookside and Last Of The Summer Wine star Louis Emerick as the Royal Tax Collector and Tupele Dorgu, from Coronation Street and Hollyoaks, as the Wicked Queen.

Joining them will be veteran funny-man Jimmy Cricket as the Court Jester, Rainbow favourites Zippy and George, Geordie Shore star Scotty Timlin as the prince, and as Snow White herself, 17-year-old Lucy Dures from Barnsley.
