FIRST off, it is my genuine pleasure to announce that it Ilkley Cinema celebrates its first birthday today! This little endeavour has been wonderful over the past year and we could not have managed it without your support, so for that we thank you. And we’re celebrating the best way we know how, by showing incredible films of course!

From November 10 to 16, we have the latest instalment in the Robert Langdon series Inferno. This time, we are plunged into the world of the infamous Dante’s Inferno and a madman’s obsession to see this prophecy come to life. When a plot to unleash a virus intent on killing half the global population, it is up to Langdon and new friend Dr Sienna Brooks to stop this atrocity from happening. But after suffering hallucinations and amnesia, can our symbologist hero be trusted to save the planet?

We also have a couple of Cannes award winning films: American Honey and recipient of the presitigious Palme d'OR I, Daniel Blake. Star, a teenager with nothing to lose finds adventure with a misfit crew of magazine subscription sellers. Their philosophy of working hard by day and playing harder by night intrigues Star and she finds love and a new sense of freedom with her new surrogate family in American Honey.

Ken Loach's latest touching masterpiece I, Daniel Blake connects with its audience like no other with its harrowing sense of empathy. The eponymous carpenter finds himself stuck in the endless mass of red tape in the welfare system after suffering a major heart attack. But seeing the plight of young single mother Katie really fuels the fire, and through their unlikely friendship, they decide enough is enough and fight back against the seemingly unsympathetic powers that be.

Kid’s Club revives a summer classic, Swallows and Amazons for your viewing pleasure. Adventures, terrifying, swashbuckling pirates and a gripping mystery sounds like the ultimate recipe for entertainment, for parents and children alike.
