TWO popular Scottish bands will be performing in Otley this autumn.

First up, appearing on Thursday, October 27, will be Saltfish Forty - a partnership of Douglas Montgomery on fiddle and viola and Brian Cromarty on guitar, mandola and vocals.

Both acclaimed musicians in their own right, together the pair's music takes the traditional sound of Orkney and mixes it with influences from America, East European folk and even a hint of heavy metal.

Their live sets, meanwhile, are full of energetic tunes and songs designed to get the audience dancing.

Tickets for the show, which starts at 8pm, cost £12.50 or £11.

Southern Tenant Folk Union will follow when they take the stage at the Courthouse on Saturday, November 5.

The Edinburgh-based group are one of the UK's leading lights in Americana music and produce their own distinctive take on roots and folk music.

The string band are past winners of the Americana Artist of the Year Award and have enjoyed live performances on The Andrew Marr Show and The Late Late Show

They will be mixing songs from their extensive back catalogue with new material from their seventh album, the rootsy and bluegrass influenced Join Forces, when they play in Otley.

Their Courthouse show begins at 8pm and tickets cost £13.
