THE much anticipated Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts ‘Festival of Piano and Song’ will take place at Christchurch on The Grove in Ilkley from Tuesday, October 18 to Thursday, October 20 inclusive.

Piano classes range from those for children in year 3 of school to advanced recitals from older performers; vocal sections include a variety of singing from young people aged from seven to 18. We are lucky to have secured the services of Mrs Marilynne Davies, who was recently made one of the first Adjudicator Fellows of the British and International Federation of Festivals, as our Adjudicator.

Pat Dibb, of the WFPA Committee said: "We are immensely grateful to Yorkshire and Cavendish Pianos of Bolton Abbey, who are not only supporting the festival by supplying us with a beautiful grand piano but have also created a bespoke ‘Cavendish Trophy’ to be awarded to the pianist displaying the most artistic interpretation in their performance at the Piano Festival. The recipient will be selected by our Adjudicator and we hope to have Adam Cox of Yorkshire and Cavendish Pianos with us to award the trophy at the close of the Festival at 7.30pm on Thursday 20 October.

"Entry will be by a programme, priced at £4 for a day, available from the Sanctuary at Christchurch and we look forward to welcoming everyone to join us in celebrating the talent of Yorkshire and N. Lincolnshire."
