WE COULD never have imagined the overwhelming amount of love you all have for national treasure, the wonderfully endearing Bridget Jones! So from October 7th – 13th, we have even more screenings of Bridget Jones’s Baby just for you!

Even though she is now pregnant, it seems that she’ll never be truly adult as she has no idea who the father of her baby is. Typical Bridget! But who can complain at the idea of two men wanting to help raise her child. But, like Strictly or X Factor, there can only be one winner: who will it be? Mark or Jack.

Joining the scatter-brained mum-to-be this week is an oddball, hugely funny comedy from Taika Waititi: Hunt For The Wilderpeople. Director of What We Do in the Shadows and the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, this quirky, charming film is about a troublesome teen who causes a rather sizable amount of chaos.

When Ricky Baker (Julian Dennison) is deemed impossible to raise in normal society, child welfare services place him in the home of foster parents Aunt Bella (Rima Te Wiata) and the slightly grumpy Uncle Hec (Sam Neill). But Ricky’s gangster ways are far from over when he decides to run away into the formidable New Zealand wilderness. Uncle Hec is not far behind, which lands him in deep trouble when the authorities assume Hec has gone mad and kidnapped the child, which sparks a national manhunt for the pair.

With beautiful scenery and an emotional storyline, it is the Dennison that steals the show. With hysterical quips and the mis-matched friendship with co-star Sam Neill that occurs from such strange circumstances is brilliant. If you catch any comedy this year, this is definitely the one.

The Kid’s Club screening on October 8th is a story and classic film you’ll all be familiar with: Matilda. The smart, courageous young protagonist is oppressed by her uninterested parents and the mean Mrs Trunchbull, so she uses her telekinetic powers to teach them all a lesson. You cannot live your childhood and not see this film, it is simply impossible!
