THE ACCLAIMED guitarist from 1970s mega-band Yes will be performing in Otley next month.

Steve Howe, a key member of the progressive rock giants throughout their commercial peak, will play at the Courthouse on Sunday, October 16.

Hailed as one of the all-time guitar greats, Howe went on after Yes to help found supergroup Asia and for the past 30 years has enjoyed a productive solo career that has produced a huge back catalogue of albums.

Known for his mastery of all kinds of genres, ranging from jazz and country to flamenco and ragtime, he was ranked as Guitar Magazine's Best Overall Guitarist for five years in a row, from 1976 to 1981.

Recently he has been playing live with both the reformed Yes and reformed Asia, and his Otley show follows straight on from a tour of the US with Yes.

His solo performance will showcase songs from his critically acclaimed new album, Home Brew 6, and also draw on his extensive back catalogue.

A Courthouse spokesman said: "This is a rare opportunity to see a musical legend up close here in Otley."

The concert starts at 8pm and tickets cost £20. They can be booked at otleycourthouse.org.uk, by calling (01943) 467466 or by visiting the venue on Courthouse Street, Otley.
