LEEDS Male Voice Choir celebrates its 100 year anniversary with a programme of voice and brass for the whole family at Leeds Town Hall on Saturday, September 24.

In celebration of its centenary, Leeds Male Voice Choir takes the audience on a musical journey through the last hundred years to perform a gala concert of choral favourites, ballads, popular classics, operatic choruses, folk music and songs from the shows. Since its formation in 1916, Leeds Male Voice Choir has performed countless concerts around the country, collaborated with several ensembles and featured twice in the 1000 Yorkshire Voices concert at the Royal Albert Hall as well as nineties hit television talent show Opportunity Knocks.

For this choral extravaganza Leeds Male Voice Choir is joined by fifteen times Ladies British Barbershop Champion, The White Rosettes, and championship brass in the form of Rothwell Temperance Band, making this a unique musical celebration in the city.

Under the direction of Tim Knight since 2014, Leeds Male Voice Choir have defied the traditions of the male voice choir genre, casting aside blazers and welsh hymns, in favour of a modern approach with sharp suits and a diverse repertoire drawing influences from North America, Scandinavia and the Baltic. Leeds Male Voice Choir now boasts a membership of almost sixty men of different ages and backgrounds.

Musical Director Tim Knight said: “We have a sensational programme planned, with music of all styles and types. We’re delighted to be joined by such fine guests on what will be a very special evening”.

Tickets are now on sale for Sounding the Century: 100 years of Leeds Male Voice Choir priced at £12.50 - £20 and are available from the Box Office on 0113 376 0318 or book online at www.leedstownhall.co.uk
