ILKLEY soprano Una Barry will be performing at Bradford Cathedral on three Sundays in August to help say goodbye to the director of music.

Alex Woodrow – the youngest ever director of music to be appointed to any British Cathedral – is leaving Bradford to become head of choral music at Solihull School.

He has teamed up with Una to bring German, English and French music to the main 10.15am Eucharistic service on August 7, 21 and 28

Una said: "Alex and I have been working our socks off behind the scenes planning, scheming and rehearsing since May, and we now can’t afford to get sick."

She added: "Friends from all corners are coming to hear us and visit Bradford, and such support makes the commitment all the more worthwhile. In the end, God deserves the best we can offer, so let’s hope."
