WE cordially invite you to spend time with ghoulish monsters, gripping girly ghostbusters and a rather friendly giant. From July 29, we spend another week following Captain Kirk, Spock and their crew in a nail biting adventure across the galaxy. Trekkies unite, if you haven’t seen this film yet, now is the time!

It’s been over 30 years since the hugely hilarious, supernatural cult film Ghostbusters hit our screens, in the midst of the unforgettable 80’s classics. Now, in the ultimate spectacle of girl power, the franchise has been reignited with a wonderful female cast.

Starring Kristen Wiig, Melisssa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the iconic scientists, engineers and all round fiesty New Yorkers who are trying to prove the existence of the supernatural in the city. Of course, no one believes their ridiculous tale. But when thousands of ghosts descend upon Manhattan, it is up to the newly formed Ghostbusters to save the day. For old fans and new, there’s promises of zingy in-jokes, unmistakable cameos and a whole lot of ghost busting!

Generations will remember being tucked up in bed, ready for sleep and having your parents read you a bedtime story. And for many of you out there, Roald Dahl remains a timeless classic and a firm favourite for funny voices and whimsical words. We welcome you to Giant Country this week at the cinema, for the revived tale of The BFG.

Orphaned Sophie has it rough under Mrs Clonkers’ tyrannical reign in the orphanage. But one night, she notices a mysterious figure blowing dreams into children’s bedroom and is quickly snatched by the giant, and taken to his home. After introducing himself as the BFG, or Big Friendly Giant, the pair are soon firm buddies. But The BFG faces problems of his own, in the form of the ferocious Bloodbottler giants and their fearsome leader Fleshlumpeater who feast on innocent children. So Sophie suggests The BFG take his case to Her Royal Highness herself, the Queen of England, to help him imprison these fiendish monsters for good.
