ONE of the icons of the post-punk music scene will perform at Otley Courthouse this autumn.

Hazel O'Connor, who shot to fame as a singer, songwriter and actor in the 1980 movie Breaking Glass, has been announced as one of the headline acts of the venue's Autumn programme.

Other headliners confirmed for the coming months include renowned singer Kiki Dee, 'folk royalty' Martin Simpson and Peggy Seeger, and BRIT Award winning singer Beverley Craven.

O’Connor will perform a mixture of old and new material when she performs from 8pm on Thursday, October 13.

Kiki Dee meanwhile, probably best known for her duet with Elton John, Don't Go Breaking My Heart, will deliver an acoustic session - joined by long-time friend Carmelo Luggeri - on Friday, October 21.

Before both, folk legend Peggy Seeger will be performing on Friday, September 30 - and fans of the genre can also look forward to seeing BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Musician of the Year Martin Simpson playing on Friday, November 25.

Beverley Craven, meanwhile, will be playing songs from her new album at the Courthouse on Friday, November 18 - and mixing them with older fan favourites like Promise Me and Holding On.

Drama enthusiasts will be catered for in September when, as part of National Theatre Live, the venue will show a live broadcast of Terence Rattigan's play The Deep Blue Sea, starring Helen McCrory and Tom Burke.

As for comedy, BBC Radio 4s Beth Vyse will be performing on Friday, October 7 followed by Sony Award winning Gary Delaney on Saturday, November 19 and Live at the Apollo and Phoenix Nights' Justin Moorhouse on Saturday, February 4.

For family audiences, Tutti Frutti Theatre Company - in association with York Theatre Royal - will be back in town with their brand new production of Underneath a Magical Moon.

A reimagining of Peter Pan as told by Wendy Darling, the show takes place on Thursday, November 24.

During the October half-term holiday, meanwhile, Fidget Theatre will present their stage version of classic children's tale Molly's Marvellous Moustache on Monday, October 24.

And Saturday, December 10 will see the Topsy Turvy Theatre Company performing their Christmas production of The Lost Present.

Several talks are also lined up at the Courthouse including, on Saturday, October 22, a discussion about his time as Boycie by actor John Challis, from the BBC's hit comedy Only Fools and Horses.

Then on Friday, January 13, Otley resident and founder of the Wainwright Society John Burland will be discussing his book, Yorkshire Dales: 6 Dales, 30 Walks.

And finally on Saturday, February 25, Chris Murphy from the Towton Battlefield Society will tackle the topic of organised crime in the Middle Ages.
