IT’S that magical time of year again: exams are over and schools are breaking up which means summer is officially upon us. If you’re jetting off somewhere exotic and exciting, we wish you the happiest of holidays! But if you’re stuck for something to do when the inevitable British summer showers hit, we invite you to venture down to Ilkley Cinema. For the next six weeks, we have more kids film than is probably recommended for human consumption, and some epic Summer Blockbusters.

Scotty, beam us up, and warp speed ahead to Ilkley Cinema. That’s right, get ready to live long and prosper folks, for we have the latest instalment of the legendary Star Trek franchise gracing our screen. From July 22 – 28, Star Trek: Beyond sees the USS Enterprise run into unchartered and dangerous territory during a five-year mission. Stranded on a remote planet with an unstoppable force of aliens and battling against a ruthless enemy, Captain Kirk and his crew fight for survival. Will they break free from this terror and escape this hostile planet? Dust off your Star Trek uniforms and Vulcan ears and join us for this space spectacular!

Joining the sci-fi adventures this week is the lovable comedy The Secret Life of Pets. Ever wondered what your furry friends do when you’re out at work? When the humans are away, the animals come out to play! And for pampered terrier Max, life is sweet in his Manhattan apartment. This is of course until his owner brings home new dog, hairy slob Duke. Things go from bad to worse when Max and Duke are attacked by a gang of cats and to top off the worst day ever, they end up on a one way trip to the pound! And even though the unlikely pairing are saved by fluffy bunny Snowball, his kindness comes with a price: to help him fight against the humans that have wronged him. Will these pooches ever get home?

Also showing for second week is Ice Age: Collision Course. It seems that the adorable Scrat will never get his acorn, but instead causes a catastrophe on an astronomical scale.
