HAPPY holidays, Ilkley! We’ve a barrage of family friendly features to herald the start of the summer break – Ice Age: Collision Course and The Secret Life of Pets bark, purr, and growl their way onto our screen – and for the romantics out there prepare to have your tear ducts well and truly wringed-out as Me Before You hits you right in the feels.

Do you really know what your pets get up to when you’re not in the house? While you might expect the occasional macerated throw cushion or chewed up newspaper, chances are they’re not listening to heavy metal and throwing crazy parties with the neighbouring pets. Not so in Illumination Entertainment’s latest animated escapade – The Secret Life of Pets!

From the humans behind Despicable Me comes this affable animal adventure about spoiled terrier Max (Louis C.K.) who enjoys a lavish lifestyle in a New York building until his owner adopts a giant and unruly canine, Duke (Eric Stonestreet). During their ‘walkies’ outside they encounter a group of ferocious alley cats and wind up bound for the pound! Luckily, a rebellious rabbit misleading named Snowball (Kevin Hart) swoops in to save the doggy duo from captivity but in exchange, Snowball demands that Max and Duke join his gang of abandoned pets on a mission against the humans who’ve done them wrong…

Scrat the squirrel’s epic pursuit of the elusive acorn catapults him into outer space where he unwittingly sets off a series of cosmic events that threaten the entire world in Ice Age: Collision Course! Sid, Manny, Diego, and all your favourite characters return for another outrageous adventure. Over the past 14 years the Ice Age films have consistently delivered feel-good fun, heart-warming moments, and unforgettable characters, and Collision Course is no exception!

Young and quirky Louisa (Emilia Clarke) moves from one job to the next to help her family make ends meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the test when she becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy young banker left paralysed from an accident two years earlier. Will's cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living and as their bond deepens, their lives and hearts change in ways neither one could have imagined. Emilia Clarke’s animated eyebrows steal the show but Me Before You packs a powerful emotional punch, nary a dry eye in the house!
