OTLEY Courthouse has lined up a variety of summer movies to keep film fans happy.

First up, on Saturday, July 2, is the acclaimed anti-war classic All Quiet on the Western Front, presented by Otley Film Society.

Released in 1930 and directed by Lewis Milestone, the film features a moving lead performance by Lew Ayres as it lays bare the tragic waste at the heart of conflict.

The screening takes place at 7.30pm and tickets cost £4.

It has been organised to tie in with a special Otley Walking Festival trek that will take place at Masham, earlier on the day, to mark the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme and the sacrifice the Leeds Pals made there.

The Courthouse's Movie Matinee season, meanwhile, continues on Thursday, July 7 with Suffragette - the inspirational story of some of the women who led the struggle for the vote.

Starring Carey Mulligan, Anne-Marie Duff and Helena Bonham Carter, the film was a sell-out when shown at the venue in January and is back by popular demand.

The movie starts at 2pm with tea or coffee and biscuits available beforehand, from 1.30pm, and admission costs £4.

Then on Thursday, August 4, the Courthouse will be showing two films as part of Yorkshire Week.

Dad's Army, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, Daniel Mays and Bill Nighy, will be shown at 2pm on Thursday, August 4.

Tickets also cost £4, and include hot drinks and biscuits, available from 1.30pm.

Later on the same day classic British comedy The Full Monty, which was filmed in Sheffield and became a smash hit after release in 1997, will be screened at 7.45pm.

Admission costs £4.

Tickets for any of the films can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466, or visiting the venue on Courthouse Street, Otley.
