A FEAST of live folk music will be served up at Otley Courthouse next month.

Winners of the Best Duo category at the 2015 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, will kick the melodic proceedings off on Saturday, June 4.

The pair are known for their mesmerising and poignantly lyrical musical arrangements - but also their self-deprecating humour.

Starting out in pub back rooms just a few years ago, they have gone on to play at high-profile venues including the Cambridge Folk Festival, Bristol's Colston Hall and London's Purcell Rooms.

They also, following an invite from 6 Music DJ Cerys Matthews after she had witnessed their rendition of The Banks of The Sweet Primroses at last year's Folk Awards in 2015, appeared in the National Theatre's production of Our

Country's Good.

The play, which ran from August to October at the National’s Olivier theatre, featured two of Josienne and Ben's original compositions.

Their Otley show starts at 8pm and tickets cost £12 or £10 in advance, or £13 or £11 on the door.

Irish folk quartet The Jeremiahs, meanwhile, will bring their repertoire of old and new folk songs from across the British Isles to the Courthouse on Friday, June 10.

Featuring dual flute / whistle, fiddle, guitar / bouzouki and vocal, the band have a distinctively contemporary edge to their music which they combine with traditional material to create an original sound.

Since founding in 2013, The Jeremiahs have played at some of the top venues and festivals in Ireland and Europe, and were crowned winners at the Christy Moore Songwriter Showcase.

They have also received a Live Ireland Best Vocal and Instrumental Album of the Year award and and the Male Vocalist of the Year title from the Chicago Irish American News.

They take the stage at the Courthouse at 8pm and tickets cost £12.50 or £11 in advance, or £13.50 or £12 on the night.

Award-winning string ensemble Blazin' Fiddles will bring the musical offerings for June to an end on Saturday, June 25.

The group consists of some of the best contemporary fiddle players from the Scottish Highlands and Islands supported by sympathetic piano and guitar arrangements.

They have performed everywhere from village halls to the BBC Proms and racked up several accolades in the process, including Folk Band of the Year at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards.

The band have also released a string of albums to huge critical acclaim, and toured extensively.

Their Otley performance begins at 8pm. Tickets cost £15 or £13 in advance or £16 or £14 on the door.
