ON Saturday, May 21 the Fairfax Singers, together with soprano Charlotte Marsh, will present Sing into Spring with a selection of sacred and secular music at St Oswald's Church in Guiseley to raise money for the church tower. The concert starts at 7 pm.

St Oswald's Church has been serving the community of Guiseley for over 800 years.

There has been a church on this site since the 12th century, but the tower is now in need of vital repairs. The church needs help to raise £82,000.

The admission to the concert is free, but with donations large or small, it is hoped to raise funds in aid of these vital repairs to the church tower.

Guest soloist this evening is soprano Charlotte Marsh, who is 13-years-old, a pupil at Guiseley School, and studies singing with Sally Leeming.

She has performed in amateur productions at the Alhambra and St George’s Hall in Bradford, and in 2011 won a talent competition called Brit Idol. As part of her prize, she spent time in a recording studio.

She has danced with Northern Ballet as a mouse in The Nutcracker, was a fairy in Opera North’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and has toured with them in the UK and internationally in their production of Carousel.

Fairfax Singers are delighted to welcome her to join them again in this concert. The Fairfax Singers have been helping to raise funds for charities for around 17 years. They also sing at weddings and corporate events and have been part of Leeds and Bradford Christmas and Summer celebrations for many years.

Currently there are vacancies for basses and altos in the choir, which rehearses on Tuesday evenings in Burley-in-Wharfedale. For more information visit www.fairfaxsingers.org.uk or contact musical director Dorothy Hawkshaw on (01943) 877464
