THE espionage thriller A Most Wanted Man is Ilkley Film Society's next screening on Sunday, May 15, from 8pm at Ilkley Playhouse.
Based on John Le Carre's novel, the film features the final screen performance of Philip Seymour Hoffman as a German spymaster running a secret operation to trace jihadis in Hamburg, the city where the 9/11 terrorists lived and plotted.
When a Chechen with torture injuries arrives in the city to claim his father's bank account the security agencies need to discover quickly if he is an innocent victim or a dangerous terrorist, and a gripping and intricate story is under way.
Dutch director Anton Corbijn is best known for his music videos for bands such as U2, and for his remarkable debut film Control about Ian Curtis and Joy Division, which the film society screened a few seasons ago.
Non-members are requested to reserve tickets (£4) by phoning Dave Howell on (01943) 430097.
The society's current season finishes at the end of the month and prospective new members for next season should email contact details to membership@ilkleyfilmsociety.org.uk
