THE ART In The Square group is staging its first major exhibition in Keighley.

Art In The Square’s exhibition at Cliffe Castle Museum opened last weekend and will run until April 10.

Kim Adams, one of the members, said: “We have been together for 15 months with a common aim to promote our art.

“We have had two pop-up venues in Keighley and one in Haworth, but this is our first major exhibition as a group.”

The Title of the Exhibition Is Taking Time To Stand And Stare.

Kim is a self-taught artist who paints portraits, figures and animals with oil, acrylics and pastel. Kim’s work has been displayed at the Ilkley and Bradford Open exhibitions in recent years.

Fellow member Jan Whittock taught art for her entire working life, but now pursues her own work.

Ann Barrett, who is also retired, and is exhibiting her work at Cliffe Castle for the first time, has a great interest in all forms of art work, including landscape and still life.

Diane Sands/Kirby is a qualified artist specialising in portraiture, and for the current exhibitions challenged herself by producing work based on items at Cliffe Castle Museum.

Kath Topping, another member, said: “Painting colour on paper or canvas never fails to visually excite and is a constant challenge.”
