HEROES and villains is the theme of summer activities at the Royal Armouries in Leeds.

The museum invites visitors to learn about real and fantasy heroes and villains in an action-packed series of family events.

There will be combat demonstrations, fascinating true stories and tall tales, daredevil horse shows and hands-on history activities.

Visitor experience manager Rachael Bevan said: “We will be getting in to the spirit of the Rugby World Cup between August 8 and 9 with lots of sporting fun.

“We will be grabbing our capes and masks in readiness for a superhero takeover during the bank holiday weekend at the end of August.”

Highlights of the include Atkinson action horses in training (until September 2) and the Golden Arrow archery competition (August 8/9).

There is also the Waterloo 1815: The Art Of Battle exhibition, running until August 23.

Museum admission is free although charges apply for some events. Visit royalarmouries.org for further information.
