THE TIMELESS music of James Taylor and Carol King will come to Ilkley Playhouse on Friday July 3, courtesy of five-piece band Fire and Rain.

The band, all from the Scarborough area, get together once a year to perform only a few concerts, featuring the familiar James Taylor and Carol King songs.

The band are made up of Tom Townsend (Tom Townsend Blues Band) Guitar / Vocals, Rich Adams (Stony) Guitar / vocals, Mark Gordon (Stony) Keyboards, Paul Tilley (Paul Tilley Jazz Band) Drums/vocal and Bob Walker Bass.

Last year the band performed at ‘Cherry Burton Live’ to a full house and event organiser, Martin Peirson, said: "Last year's sell out performance from this act was so popular we just had to do it all again."

The band are building on the success of that one-off gig-and have expanding it into a 2015 mini-tour taking in Pocklington, Ilkley and Scarborough, as well as Cherry Burton.

Classic Taylor and King compositions include 'You've Got Friend' 'Fire and Rain', 'Sweet Baby James',’Shower the People’ 'I Feel the Earth Move' and 'Will you still Love me Tomorrow'- and these will likely be included in this evening's song list.

Choosing favourites to perform will not be easy for the group that takes its name from a Taylor composition.

They are supported by up-and-coming young singer, Gracie Falls, from Bridlington. She has recently released her debut album, Down but not Defeated

Tickets for the Ilkley show are £10 advance of £11 on the door, call (01943) 609539 to book.
