YORKSHIRE band Hope and Social will be inviting some of the audience to perform with them when they play in Otley this month.

The group, whose singer Simon Wainwright hails from the town, will be holding an afternoon workshop and evening show at Otley Courthouse on Monday, May 25.

The Bank Holiday fun will begin with a free 2pm rehearsal session that will be open to the first 40 applicants who have bought a ticket for the concert.

Anyone attending who can play a musical instrument - which isn't essential - should send an e-mail in advance to say what they play, and to what level, to katebeard@me.com, entitled Otley Workshop Instrument info.

Known for their blue jackets and energy, Hope and Social held a series of shows along the Tour de France's route - including one in Otley - last year that got hundreds of residents, most of whom had never sung or played in public before, performing with them on stage.

The band also helped launch this year's inaugural Tour de Yorkshire, and followed the final Wakefield to Leeds stage with their Blunder Bus.

The six-piece - whose other members are Rich Huxley on guitars, vocals and piano; Ed Waring on keyboards; Gary Stewart on drums; James Hamilton on brass; and Simon Goff on bass - will put on their evening show at the

Courthouse at 8pm.

The gig, which is standing-only, costs £12 or £10 with limited balcony seating also available for £14.

To book tickets and / or request a place on the afternoon workshop call (01943) 467466, visit otleycourthouse.org.uk, or pop in to the venue.
