THE Stagefright Comedy Club makes a welcome return to Ilkley Playhouse on Saturday, April 18 at 8pm.

The guest compere for the evening is Kate McCabe, a stand-up who hails from America and gigs all over the UK.

Kate can also be heard on both Gaydio and Fab Radio International.

An American comic now in Manchester, Kate McCabe has been warmly received by British audiences. You can catch her at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this summer as half of the show TomKate: Comedy Tandem with fellow stand-up and improviser Tom Short who is also performing.

A brilliant line-up for the evening sees Kate and Tom joined by Jim Tavare, Craig Deeley and Bilal Zafar.

For tickets book online at ilkleyplayhouse.co.uk or telephone 01943 609539.

Saturday, April 18 will be a busy day at the Playhouse, starting with the Vintage Fair in the Sheridan Suite between 10am and 4pm.

Charlie Oswain, hair and make-up artist to the stars, will be there to demonstrate the vintage look.

If there are any local students interested in following a similar career, this would be a great opportunity to ask questions.

Charlie has a huge amount of experience having worked on the recently-released film Cinderella and such stage shows as The Lion King in the West End.

Jill Coulson is also busily cataloguing the vast display of costumes at the Playhouse.

The new costume hire website will also be launched on the 18th, check out facebook.com/ilkleycostumes for a preview.

Admission is £1 and under 16s free.

The next Ilkley Players production is Ding Dong by Marc Camoletti, being staged from April 29 until May 2.

This comedy, by the writer of the hugely successful Boeing Boeing, is based on the French play Sexe et Jalousie.

Marc Camoletti wrote 40 plays. His most successful, Boeing-Boeing, ran for 19 years in Paris and the film version starred Tony Curtis.

In Ding Dong, Bernard has discovered that his wife Jacqueline is having an affair with Robert.

Being a reasonable businessman, Bernard gives Robert two options to compensate for the affair: either he will sleep with Robert’s wife in order to keep things even, or he will have him killed.

Lee Russell and Julia O’Keefe play Bernard and Jacqueline Marcellin and Mark Simister is Robert.

This typically French farce is co-directed by Ian Wilson and Denise MacGregor. Matinee on Saturday, May 2, at 2.30pm with all other nights starting at 7.30pm. Tickets are on sale.
