ILKLEY tenor he may be, having lived in the town for 40 years and where he continues to teach, but James Griffett was born in Stevenage and the town recently honoured him with the inclusion of his photograph on an Artists’ Photo Wall in the town centre.
On a bitterly cold day, with a number of Stevenage artists in attendance, the photo montage was unveiled by local best-selling author Ken Follett (of “The Pillars of the Earth” fame) and the town’s mayor, revealing well known local artists in the fields of writing, painting, sculpture and music.With some of James’ many recordings playing in the background, the celebratory event put the final pieces of the Photo Wall in place.
