GALLERY At The Art Shop is starting its 2015 programme with an exhibition of oil paintings by local artist Joanne Dexter. The exhibition runs until Saturday, February 28 and can been seen at the gallery in the Art Shop at Hawksworth Street, Ilkley from Monday to Saturday, 1pm to 5.30pm.
Working primarily in oils, Joanne explores land and sky through the use of colour and abstract form.
Her work is informed by shifting emotional mood – her range of emotions reflected in the subtle blending of colour and/or bold brush strokes.
For much of her adult life, Joanne has been a professional soprano engaged on the operatic stage or concert platform. A love for art took a back seat for some two decades as she focussed on her music career before returning once more to an early passion.
She is a new and exciting emerging artist and her work is becoming increasingly in demand in Galleries in Yorkshire and beyond.
