SKIPTON Building Society Camerata are to be joined by the international cellist Raphael Wallfisch, tonight (Saturday) for their first ever performance at Ilkley’s King’s Hall, from 7.30pm.
The orchestra is entering its 11th season of professional music making following last year’s 10th anniversary year which saw performances with Dame Emma Kirkby, Benjamin Frith and Tasmin Little. This season will continue the orchestra’s mission to bring even more national quality professional music and international soloists to Yorkshire and the north of England.
This performance will feature the overture from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, the Finzi Cello Concerto and Schumann’s final symphony the ‘Rhenish’.
Raphael Wallfisch has a special affinity with the Finzi concerto having recorded it with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and given live performances of the work with the BBC Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He also edited the cello part for Boosey and Hawkes, the definitive edition of the work.
Tickets for all the concerts, are available at skiptoncamerata.com or by calling 0333 666 3366.
