THE first Grassington Festival 2015 events have been announced, and tickets are now on general sale.

On Wednesday, June 24 there is a spectacular evening in store at a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ event, with Skipton Building Society Camerata and Special Guests (to be announced).

Skipton Camerata was created in 2004 and has since established a reputation for innovative and engaging professional performances. As well as playing established repertoire works in the concert hall the orchestra have also staged early Mozart operas in pubs, commissioned and performed new works in shopping centres and given 20th century premieres of forgotten works.

Catch ‘An Evening with Pam Ayres’ on Thursday, June 25 as she brings her latest show to the festival as part of her 40th anniversary tour.

This tour follows the recent publication of her new book of poetry; You made me late again!

Pam Ayres’ work is funny and approachable. It sounds simple, as though dashed off, but this is deceptive. Her hair-trigger timing, her eye for the detail of everyday life, and for the absurdity therein, makes for an art that hides art.

Since first appearing on TV’s Opportunity Knocks in 1975 her books have been bestsellers, and Pam is still a regular on radio and TV, on programmes such as Just A Minute and The One Show.

On Friday, June 26, don’t miss the opportunity to see Britain’s most successful traditional folk act as Bellowhead (plus support) take to the stage in the Festival in the Field Marquee.

Having celebrated their tenth anniversary in April 2014, Bellowhead are widely praised for their stunning live shows and often acknowledged as one of the best live acts the UK has produced in recent years. In the process they have won BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Best Live Act an amazing five times, as well as Best Group twice.

And finally (for now!), The Last Night Party always sees Grassington Festival out with a bang, and there’s a real treat in store for 2015.

On Saturday, June 27, the Last Night Party with Roland Gift and special guests Heaven 17 plus support promises a night to remember!

With the full programme due to be announced in March/April, all the early signs suggest it’s time to dust off your dancing shoes and get set for a lively and memorable Grassington Festival in 2015!
