OTLEY Courthouse is looking forward to an attractions-packed December.

On Friday, December 5, The Henrik Jansberg Band will be playing their distinctive brand of Celtic swing from 8pm. Tickets cost £12 or £10 in advance or £13 or £11 on the night.

Then on Saturday, December 6, Simon and Garfunkel tribute band, The Sounds of Simon will perform some of the American duo’s biggest hits along with rarely heard tracks. The show, part of the Old Friends Duo tour, starts at 8pm with tickets priced at £10 or £8 if booked, or £11 or £9 on the door.

The Courthouse is also playing a starring role in this year’s Victorian Fayre on Sunday, December 7, when lanterns that were made at a series of workshops at the arts venue, will be paraded around town from 4.15pm.

The event will be supported by two Otley Beaver groups and local company Handmade Parade, who led the workshops.

A film telling the story of how Walt Disney acquired the rights to Mary Poppins, meanwhile, will be the movie matinee on Thursday, December 11.

Starring Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks, Saving Mr Banks starts at 1.30pm and costs £4, which includes tea and biscuits.

Later the same day, at 7.45pm, Otley Film Society will show The Selfish Giant, a Clio Barnard directed drama that is set in Bradford. Admission costs £4 to non-members.

Acclaimed folk duo Belshazzar’s Feast will perform a Christmas-themed set of tunes the following night, from 8pm on Friday, December 12.

Tickets cost £12 or £10 in advance, or £13 or £11 on the door, and are selling fast.

Twelve to 17 year olds will be able to enjoy a Winter Wonderland Club Night aimed specifically at their age group on Saturday, December 13.

The Ilkley Literature Festival event runs from 7.30pm to 10pm and will see young bands, singers, writers and comedians performing their own work in front of their peers. Anyone wishing to take part should call 01943 601210 or send an email to info@ilkleyliteraturefestival.org.uk. Audience tickets cost £4.

Attractions later in December will include a screening of 20 Feet from Stardom on Thursday, December 18; a Frozen sing-along movie and disco – for fans of the Disney film – on Saturday, December 20; and later the same day Blast from the Past will be asking the audience to get involved and sing carols at A Victorian Christmas.
