Stephanie Dingle, a member of the Bolton Priory congregation, holds a special art exhibition at Bolton Abbey Village Hall from Friday, May 23 to Sunday, May 25.

The 88-year-old, of Micklethwaite, near Bingley, has earned a well deserved reputation for a lifetime of painting and exhibiting her work, particularly throughout the North West of England.

Her works include landscapes, still life and seascapes, and her pictures show a naive approach and use of colour owing much to the Fauves such as Matisse, Dufy, Vlaminck and Braques.

She has exhibited at the Royal Cambrian Academy, in Manchester, Stockport, Warrington and Crewe and is represented in many public and private collections.

The exhibition will show around 60 or so of her paintings, all of them for sale, at prices ranging from £200 to over £1000 each, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Friends of Bolton Priory.

In addition, whilst admission is free, Stephanie has donated as a raffle prize a still life oil painting “Mixed Anemones” which would normally sell for around £350.

After a reception by invitation on the Friday evening, the exhibition is open to the public on Saturday May 24 (10.30am to 4.30pm) and Sunday May 25 (11.45am to 4pm) with free parking in the Village Hall car park.

The raffle draw will be 3.30pm on Sunday.
