This Easter Otley Courthouse is going animal crazy with a host of jungle-themed theatre, crafts and film.

On Friday, April 11, Image Musical Theatre brings The Jungle Book, its interactive musical based on Rudyard Kipling's famous book, to the venue.

Courthouse centre manager Chloe Perry said: “This is set to be a brilliant family day out.

“In the light-hearted first half hour the audience will learn the choruses of four songs, and ten children will be chosen to rehearse for small parts in the play.

“During the interval they will be outfitted with costumes, and then the show is presented with its new actors, running seamlessly and allowing everyone to take part.

“This is the perfect way for the whole family to enjoy theatre and music together.”

Tickets cost £8 for adults, £6 for children, with family tickets – for two adults and two children – £25.

Madagascar, the animated tale of a group of spoiled zoo animals who end up in the wilds of Madagascar, will be shown as the Courthouse Family Film Matinee on Thursday, April 17.

The movie, also starring four absconding penguins and a whole tribe of very merry lemurs, starts at 2pm and costs £2 for children, £4 for adults.

All the Courthouse’s Easter Craft workshops, meanwhile, are based around the many different animals you could expect to encounter in the environment of The Jungle Book or Madagascar.

This Tuesday, the children will be making animal collages based on surrealist art, using different mediums including photographs, drawings, and magazine clippings.

Then on Wednesday there will be a clay animal workshop.

The workshops during the following week will feature recycled art, with the children creating and decorating snakes using scrap materials, on Tuesday, April 15 and mask- making using paper plates, scrap fabric and paper on Wednesday April 16.

All workshops will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm, and cost £5 per session, which includes materials.
