A KEIGHLEY store has expanded and is recruiting more staff.

Fulton Foods has trebled the size of its shop – taking over two previously-unoccupied neighbouring units – at the Airedale Shopping Centre, in Towngate.

And the Barnsley-based company, which specialises in frozen and chilled foods plus household goods, is seeking three new assistants.

Operations director Mike Hinchcliffe said: "Keighley has been – and remains – an important trading location for us which is why we decided to invest in a new larger store.

"It stocks a much wider range of groceries, frozen and chilled goods and household products.

"All our staff have transferred to the new store and we are recruiting so it's good news all round."

Airedale Shopping Centre manager, Steve Seymour, said the expansion was "another vote of confidence" in the mall after the decision by Trespass and Peacocks to launch stores there.

"This is good news for the centre and the town as a whole," he added.

"We are working hard to bring new companies in and help our present retailers expand to meet customer demand.

"Fulton Foods has been with us for the past 14 years and I am pleased to see the company is thriving and expanding.

"The store now covers 3,000 sq ft which means the firm has plenty of room to stock lots of new products and this helps extend the range of goods available at the Airedale Centre.

"I am sure the store will be very popular with shoppers, especially as it is close to the bus station, which is useful for those without access to a car."

Fulton Foods – which has a turnover of £70m – employs 1,000 staff in more than 100 stores, mostly in Yorkshire.
