We need radical political reform
9:47am Saturday 9th August 2008
I fully support the views of Dan Cooney in last week's Wharfedale Observer concerning the way Labour supporters are baying for Gordon Brown's blood after the Glasgow by-election defeat.

The turning point for trolley buses
9:56am Thursday 31st July 2008
May I suggest Chris Youhill, who wrote in last week about trolley buses turning in Burley, looks at J Popes' books Leeds Transport in 4 Volumes published by Leeds Transport Historical Society for the answer to this question. These books are in most Leeds libraries and were available for purchase at Leeds Civic Trust, Back New York Street, Leeds.

Mixed feelings about Wharfe Bridge plans
8:50am Thursday 24th July 2008
Sir, At first sight, the revised Wharfe Bridge Ltd plans for the former Cattle Market site look as though they may provide a win/ win' solution to the question of how best to develop this landmark site in the heart of Otley's Conservation Area.

For the community and not the party
9:33am Saturday 12th July 2008
Sir, I respond more with sadness that with anger to the extraordinarily inaccurate letter from Councillor Clive Fox. On an issue we should be working together on, I think it is very sad he has lowered himself to try to score party political points. This is just kind of thing that puts people off politics.

4:29pm Thursday 26th June 2008
SIR, - I read with interest the offer of Coun Colin Campbell to chair a meeting about the work of the council's Planning Dept. I think that he has misunderstood the point.

There’s no justice in closure process
2:44pm Thursday 19th June 2008
SIR, - Re: Post Office consultation': It is a fundamental principle of justice that the accused should be informed of the case against them - the rules that apply, the evidence on which the decision will be based - so they may put forward the best possible defence.

Diesel price rise is a threat to us all
9:40am Thursday 12th June 2008
SIR, - The rising price of oil on the world market during the last two years has meant that we have all suffered.

Soccer ladies praise Guiseley pub landlord
4:11pm Thursday 5th June 2008
SIR, - Guiseley Ladies Football Club would like to thank Tony McCaul of the Station Hotel, Guiseley, for organising the Guiseley Music Festival at his pub on Bank Holiday Sunday. We were priviliged to be one of the beneficiaries of the proceeds of this superb event.
