THIS aerial shot of Swire’s Garage in Yeadon was taken after 1945.
It was donated to Aireborough Historical Society by Andrew Emsley whose mother worked there as a pump attendant.
Archivist Carlo Harrison said: “Isaac Swires originally had a blacksmiths shop which was located between the Woolpack on New Road and Henshaw Lane, the advent of the motor car led him into repairs and petrol supplies.”
After 1945 the business was relocated to a larger site at the corner of New Road with Apperley Lane.
In the second undated photograph Mr Whiteley, Chairman of Otley Round Table received a cheque from Ann Cooper for the money raised by patients in the Children’s Hospital at Menston towards a television set.
