THIS atmospheric snowy snapshot could be mistaken for Russia or Scandinavia - but it is actually a scene from Ilkley in 1963.

The photograph, from the Ilkley Gazette archives, is dated February 8, 1963 but has no other details.

The second photograph is undated but judging from the hairstyles and outfits it could well date back to the 1950s or 1960s. From the archives of the Wharfedale Observer, it shows three young girls enjoying all the fun of the fair at Yeadon.

The names of the girls appear to be Linda Coogan, Kathleen Tomlin and Geraldine Mosley.
