A LOCAL councillor has helped an Otley school raise £1,400 for a new cycle rack, which was opened in July.
Leeds City Councillor Ryk Downes (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) has given Ashfield School some MICE money (funds set aside for local projects) for a new cycle rack that holds a dozen bicycles.
He said: "I used to cycle to school myself, so I'm happy to support the project. It encourages children to cycle to school and parents don't have to drive."
