People in Guiseley will be asked Who Do You Think You Are? during a community day to be held at Guiseley School.
The school is throwing open its doors to the public on Saturday as part of a project being run throughout April and May. And it is inviting local people to give their oral histories or find out about life in Guiseley in days gone by.
The school has been running a project based around local history and the BBC programme Who Do You Think You Are?
A West Yorkshire Archive representative has visited the school to do some work with students based on the history of Guiseley and Aireborough, including how to take oral histories.
All the work will be displayed in the school library, on the Now Then community website and at the community event.
Students also had a day off timetable when they were able to work on the project – learning about the ‘'melting pot’ of Britain and what it is to be British.
This week the archive service visited the school again to work with students on tithe maps. looking at the development of Guiseley through the ages.
A school spokesman said: “We’re extremely grateful to West Yorkshire Archive Service giving up their time and expertise to help the school and the community of Guiseley find more about its past.”
