Schoolboy Oliver Hayes has walked more than 219 miles to raise money for a community project in Africa.
Oliver, 15, is due to take part in a World Challenge Expedition to Botswana and Zambia next summer.
As part of the expedition he had to raise £3,000 himself.
Since November he has taken on a paper round and offered dog walking and babysitting services, all with the aim of taking part in the ten-day trek across savanna terrain in Botswana.
He is now getting close to his £3,000 target.
Oliver said: "I am dedicated to taking part in the challenge and have really enjoyed raising the money. It's been quite hard work, but I've enjoyed it."
Oliver, of Stirling Road, Burley-in-Wharfedale, has also taken part in fundraising events and received a £500 boost from the Rotary Club of Ilkley towards his challenge.
The Ilkley Grammar School pupil said: "When I get to Zambia I will be trekking across rough terrain and could meet crocodiles and all sorts of wild animals.
"I will also be taking part in a project to help a local community, so could find myself building a well or something like that. It's nice to think I will be able to help."
