Benton Park look at sustaining the environment Buy this photo »
Students at Benton park school have been learning how to protect the environment as part of their annual technology week.
This year's theme was sustainability, and during the week pupils have been encouraged to rethink their current lifestyles and learn to refuse products which they don't need and which are environmentally or socially unsustainable.
Pupils have investigated how to reduce the amount of material and energy we all use and how to re-use, repair or recycle what might normally be thought of as waste.
In Resistant Materials students used recycled logs to make household objects, whilst textile students were shown how to make bags out of recyclable material.
In food technology they looked at how to make smoothies with locally sourced ingredients rather than shipping in exotic fruits from around the world.
