Pupils from Ghyll Royd have won praise from Burley-in-Wharfedale's Chamber of Trade after helping to clear rubbish from a lay-by near their school.
The youngsters donned protective gloves to clear away litter from the lay-by on the Burley by-pass.
Now they are appealing for the local authority to ensure long-term clearing at the site, and they drew attention to the amount of rubbish near the mobile snack-bar.
The boys' hard work was brought to the attention of the chamber by the school head, Irene Connor, who wrote enclosing letters from some of the pupils.
The chamber has replied promising action and praising the boys for their community work.
