Bringing the spirit of dance back to Guiseley
 |
| Peter Dakin |
Twenty-two-year-old Guiseley dancer Peter Dakin has returned to his roots after a four year tour as a professional dancer with the Irish dance show Spirit of the Dance'. He will be dancing and singing in the Guiseley Amateur Operatic Society's production of The Boyfriend' in February at Guiseley Theatre.
Peter travelled worldwide on the Spirit of the Dance' tour and when he returned to Guiseley he couldn't resist joining GAOS and getting back on stage.
He will be playing the part of Marcel, the boyfriend of Fay, one of the young ladies at Madame Dubonnet's finishing school on the French Riviera.
Peter said: "I love dancing. I started dance lessons when I was five years-old in Yeadon. Then I went to the Northern Academy of Performing Arts in Yeadon.
"I did three years at the Stella Mann College in London. For the last four years I've been touring with Spirit of the Dance' but now I'm back home I wanted to do another show until I get work again," said Peter.
Dancing and the theatre are clearly Peter's passions.
"I'll keep dancing and doing shows until my legs are gone," he said.
The GAOS production of The Boyfriend' is on at Guiseley Theatre from Monday, February 25, until Saturday, March 1.
Peter will be joined by a cast of over 20 amateurs bringing the French Riviera to Guiseley.
The production includes show stoppers Won't You Charleston With Me', I Could Be Happy With You' and, of course,' The Boyfriend'.
Tickets: Monday £7.50 stalls, £8.50 circle; Tuesday to Saturday (including a Saturday matinee) adults £9 stalls, £10 circle and concessions £7.50 stalls and £8.50 circle (plus 11th ticket free for every ten tickets bought in a block).
