Richard is all set to strip off for the Full Monty

Now that the Christmas festivities are over, members of the acclaimed Stampede Theatre Company are back and working hard in rehearsals for their latest show, The Full Monty', which will be shown at Yeadon Town Hall in February.

The production team of Royston Bayfield, Donna Woodman and Tom Kyle are cracking the whip after Christmas to make sure the cast don't rest on their mince pies and Christmas pudding!

"The rehearsals are intense as we only have six weeks to get the show up to scratch," said Director Royston Bayfield, "luckily we have some of the best performers in the area in The Full Monty' so I know it will be a great show and a fantastic night out for everyone."

Although the show is about so much more, the most difficult part of the show, for the six male leads at least, must be taking their clothes off on stage in front of 500 people!

As daunting as this may sound it won't be the first time for one of the cast at least.

Richard Lloyd trained, then worked, as a professional actor for over ten years and one of his roles was remarkably similar to his role in The Full Monty'.

"I was picked to film a spoof of The Full Monty' in an advert for a famous clothing store in Belgium some six or seven years ago," said Richard.

"We had to dance naked in front of a room full of over 200 women, which wasn't easy. The twist from the original was that we came on naked and the more clothes we put on, the more excited the women got, supposedly because they loved the clothes!

"I've got a video of it somewhere but I don't think I'll be showing the other lads, it might scare them off!"

The Full Monty' is based on the popular film of the same name and keeping to the winning storyline. After seeing how much their wives enjoyed watching male strippers during their Girls Night Out' unemployed steelworkers came up with a bold way to make some quick cash. In the process they find renewed self-esteem, the importance of friendship and the ability to have fun.

After Stampede's success with We Will Rock You' last July, tickets for The Full Monty' are selling very quickly with Friday and Saturday evenings particularly busy, however tickets are still available.

The show will be performed from February 19-23 at Yeadon Town Hall and tickets can be obtained by calling the Box Office on 0113 2029524, or calling in at Dance Attitude on Yeadon High Street.
