Dame and the Daft Lad polish their acts
Adam Gregory and Joe Morrow
Adam Gregory and Joe Morrow

As final preparations and rehearsals take place for this year's Yeadon Charities Association pantomime Sleeping Beauty', the pair responsible for most of the traditional mayhem during the show - the Dame and Daft Lad are polishing their respective roles!

Dame Dolly Tubbs will be Adam Gregory's second appearance as Dame. Surprisingly, Adam has only been involved with the theatre for the last five years.

He began with Yeadon Methodist Dramatic Society in Shakespeare's Cymbeline'.

Regular appearances with Yeadon Amateurs followed including Harry the Horse in'Guys & Dolls', and his favourite role to date Rooster Hannigan in Annie', which he also played in Dewsbury.

Adam's Rooster earned him a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Musical at The Wharfedale Festival of Theatre in 2004.

Another favourite role saw him play Councillor Albert Parker in JB Priestley's When We Are Married'. This time Adam won Most Entertaining Performance at the Festival.

Not content with acting, Adam has also worn his Directors hat with YAODS's last two plays A Month Of Sundays' and the acclaimed Ladies Day' where he directed two of the panto performers, Laura Judge (Prince) and Les Fryer (Colonel Bogey).

Adam can't wait to play Dolly Tubbs. He is having far too much fun rehearsing and is looking forward to playing along side Son Tommy Tubbs aka Joe Morrow.

Joe has appeared with many societies across the region in a variety of roles. Starting as a very very cheeky member of Fagin's gang in YAOD's Oliver' he has progressed with some pace in order to star in several acclaimed roles.

Thenadier in Les Miserables', Miss Hannigan in Annie' and Ga Ga Teacher in We Will Rock You' for Stampede Theatre Company; The Cat in the Hat in Seussical' and Mr Snow in Carousel' for The Grove and Rawdon Theatre Company, to name just a few.

Like Adam, Joe has also donned the director/producer hat for several school productions, and assisting in musical staging for Stampede Theatre Company.

Sleeping Beauty' is Joe's first pantomime and he is really enjoying learning from the old stagers Adam (second panto) and Arthur Lawson (55th panto)!

Sleeping Beauty' will be performed at Yeadon Town Hall from January 18-26 (no performance Monday, January 21) with matinees on Saturday, Sunday and Saturday, January 26.

Prices Adults £9, Senior Citizens £7, Children £7 (five per cent discount for ten seats or more booked at same performance.
